Thermal poling of glass modified by femtosecond laser irradiation

چکیده
Thermal poling of silica glass modified by femtosecond laser irradiation is demonstrated. Increase of second-harmonic generation in the irradiated regions is observed. This enhancement is interpreted in terms of structural modifications in silica glass that make the poling process more efficient. Evidence of a change in the distribution of the electrostatic field frozen in glass during poling is obtained. This technique is used for x (2) grating fabrication. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1504181#

Quasi-phase matched second-harmonic generation through thermal poling in femtosecond laser-written glass waveguides.
Quasi-phase matched second-harmonic generation at 532 nm is demonstrated in a channel waveguide that is written in bulk fused silica using a femtosecond laser. The second-order nonlinear grating is fabricated using uniform thermal poling followed by periodic erasure inside an e-beam deposition system caused, by what we believe to be, x-rays. A SHG conversion efficiency of 2 x10(-5) %/W-cm(2) wa...
متن کامل3D microstructuring inside Foturan glass by femtosecond laser
We show that femtosecond (fs) laser enables us to produce true three-dimensional (3D) microstructures inside a photosensitive glass (Foturan), which has superior properties on transparency, hardness, and chemical and thermal resistances. Exposure to the focused laser beam writes latent images inside the glass. Modified regions are developed by a post baking process and then preferentially etche...
متن کاملFemtosecond laser-induced stress-free ultra- densification inside porous glass
Unusually high densification ⩽26% was obtained without lateral residual stresses within the laser beam waist inside porous glass during its multi-shot femtosecond laser irradiation, which may induce in the glass the related high refractive index change ~0.1. Corresponding laser irradiation regimes, resulting in such ultra-densification, decompaction and voids inside the glass, were revealed as ...
متن کاملPrecise microstructuring of indium-tin oxide thin films on glass by selective femtosecond laser ablation
Transparent conductive oxide (TCO) thin films were removed from glass substrates using femtosecond laser pulses. Irradiating through the glass, the threshold for complete TCO ablation was much lower than for front-side irradiation. Additionally, the former method created almost rectangular crosssectional groove profiles despite the Gaussian laser beam. This indicates a non-thermal ultrafast abl...
متن کاملStructural relaxation phenomena in silicate glasses modified by irradiation with femtosecond laser pulses
Structural relaxation phenomena in binary and multicomponent lithium silicate glasses were studied upon irradiation with femtosecond (fs) laser pulses (800 nm central wavelength, 130 fs pulse duration) and subsequent thermal annealing experiments. Depending on the annealing temperature, micro-Raman spectroscopy analyses evidenced different relaxation behaviours, associated to bridging and non-b...
